Backward Loop Cast-on

What it is

Backward Loop Cast-on forms new stitches from simple loops placed on the needle.

How Ruke patterns use it

Ruke Knowledge uses this as a quick cast-on reference for adding stitches or beginning a simple edge. It is less stable than Long Tail Cast-on, so it should not replace a named Ruke cast-on without checking the required edge.

When to use it

Use it when a pattern explicitly asks for backward loops or when a small number of stitches must be added quickly.

What to check

Check loop orientation, spacing and the loose strand between new stitches on the first row.

Common mistakes

Twisting the loops, pulling them tight, or choosing this method for an edge that needs firm structure.
