Tubular Cast-on
Tubular Cast-on produces a rounded, elastic edge in which rib columns appear to grow from the edge.
What it is
Tubular Cast-on produces a rounded, elastic edge in which rib columns appear to grow from the edge.
How Ruke patterns use it
This is a finishing-led cast-on reference for refined Ruke ribbing. The method needs setup rows and careful stitch orientation, so it should be swatched before it is used on a visible garment edge.
When to use it
Use it for polished 1x1 rib edges when the pattern or construction plan calls for a tubular beginning.
What to check
Check the setup sequence, stitch count, row side and elasticity after the first full rib row.
Common mistakes
Dropping a setup strand, reversing knit and purl positions, or joining before the edge is stable.
