What it is

A wrong stitch count means the live stitches do not match the total expected by the pattern at that point.

Ruke patterns provide counts after shaping and construction transitions so the error can be isolated. The safest correction begins by returning to the last confirmed checkpoint.

When to use it

Use this guide before continuing into a new body, sleeve, yoke or pattern-repeat section.

What to check

Check the selected size, markers, held stitches, cast-on stitches and every increase or decrease since the previous count.

Common mistakes

Adding or removing a stitch without finding the cause, counting markers, or checking against the wrong size column.
