technique
Basic Bind-off
Basic Bind-off secures live stitches to finish an edge.
What it is
Basic Bind-off is the standard way to close stitches. It should be worked loosely enough that the finished edge does not pull in.
How Ruke patterns use it
Cast-off instructions appear across the Ruke corpus. Basic Bind-off is the baseline reference before choosing a more elastic or decorative Ruke finish.
Examples
The parser detects cast_off instruction types in sweaters, cardigans and accessories.
Use this page when the reader needs the general idea of closing live stitches before learning a specific Ruke cast-off variation.
When to use it
Use it for straightforward edges where a standard secure finish is enough.
What to check
Check that the bind-off is not too tight, especially on necklines, cuffs, hems and any edge that must stretch.
