What it is

M1R is worked into the strand between stitches and twists the new stitch so it leans to the right. It is often paired with M1L for mirrored shaping.

How Ruke patterns use it

Ruke patterns use M1R as a directional increase, most clearly in raglan and mirrored shaping. It usually appears with markers, stitch counts and a matching M1L on the other side of the shaping line.

Examples

Yoga Summer Sweater works M1R and M1L around raglan stitches and increases the yoke by 8 stitches on RS increase rounds.
Green-Day Sweater abbreviation data includes M1R and pairs it with M1L for shaped construction.

When to use it

Use it where the pattern needs a right-leaning increase, especially on one side of raglan or mirrored shaping.

What to check

Check that the strand is lifted from back to front and worked so the new stitch closes without leaving a hole.
